The 2026 edition of the annual international congress of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM) was held in Bordeaux, more precisely within the Palais 2 l’Atlantique, from 14 to 18 June 2026.
A highly anticipated international scientific congress
Highly anticipated by the entire scientific community, nearly 4,000 researchers, scientists, clinicians and experts from around the world gathered in order to:
- present and exchange on the latest scientific advances and new imaging and neuroimaging methods,
- participate in training forums,
- promote exchanges and interdisciplinary collaborations.
The VBHI represented!
This year, the congress was co-organised by Michel Thiebaut de Schotten, Deputy Director – Artificial Intelligence & Imaging, and Chris Foulon, VBHI post-doctoral researcher.
Several members of the VBHI had the opportunity to participate and present their research work, notably:
- Valentina Pacella (IMN), holder of an AI-Cognition VBHI Chair, as well as Ami Tsuchida (IMN), Thomas Tourdias (Bordeaux Magendie) and Michel Thiebaut de Schotten (IMN), who organised a symposium entitled “From Connectome to Clinic: Multiscale Biomarkers to Prevent Neurovascular Disease and Personalise Brain Health.”,
- Andrew Zamai (LaBRI), PhD student under the supervision of Pierrick Coupé, presented his poster entitled “MRI-Based Rationale Generation for Explainable Dementia Differential Diagnosis”,
- Eloi Navet (LaBRI), PhD student under the supervision of Pierrick Coupé and Rémi Giraud, also presented his poster on the subject “On the Stability and Robustness of Vision Transformers for Neurodegenerative Disease Classification”,
- Emeline Ribot (CRMSB) took part in the Siemens Lunch Symposium in order to give a presentation entitled “Development in quantitative MRI for clinical research in neuro-imaging at 3T”.
Throughout the congress, a VBHI stand was present in order to welcome visitors and present the institute and all of its missions to them. A true place for exchanges, many participants came to meet Michelle Wilson-André, Strategic Development Officer, Judith Thomas Crusells, Scientific Network Officer, and Michel Thiebaut de Schotten in order to learn more.
Scientific postcards, specially created and designed for the occasion, were made available to visitors and were a real success: a beautiful way for the VBHI to travel and make itself known throughout the world.
