Technological innovation centre dedicated to imaging and artificial intelligence applied to cerebrovascular diseases.

Challenges and objectives

Artificial intelligence is driving major advances in biomedical science and opening up new therapeutic prospects.

The aim of the VBHI – Imaging & AI Centre is to consolidate world-class expertise for the development of cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools and approaches in Bordeaux. The first initiatives will focus on “covert”, or hidden, diseases of the small vessels in the brain with a particular focus on innovative imaging biomarkers (brain and retina).

Priority areas:

  • To enable early detection and characterisation of cerebral lesions associated with covert forms of small vessel diseases using an unsupervised machine learning algorithm.
  • To democratise biomarkers based on AI transfer learning (3T to 0.55T), reducing costs and making early prevention accessible to as many people as possible.

In France, it is estimated that a 50% reduction in the avoidable risks associated with the impact of cerebrovascular disease could lead to savings of €4.2 billion a year.

How can you support the Institute?

Your help is essential in the fight against stroke and dementia, and for the promotion of healthy brain ageing.

By supporting cutting-edge research to develop new prevention strategies and personalised therapies for vascular brain diseases, you are helping reduce the burden of these diseases worldwide.

Your donation entitles you to a tax reduction.
E.g.: If I am taxable and I donate €50, my donation will only cost me €12 after tax reduction.
