Researcher at the UMR Inserm U1034 laboratory. A major part of her various research projects has focused on identifying therapeutic targets for treating vascular diseases of the central nervous system (retina and brain). Her research, first conducted in Paris (2010-2018) at the Centre de Recherche des Cordeliers, and then in Bordeaux (2019-2024), has primarily resulted in demonstrating the proof of concept for the therapeutic effects of regulating the activation of the complement pathway by factor H in the establishment and/or progression of age-related macular degeneration and Alzheimer’s disease.
Currently, her research primarily focuses on characterizing the role of Versican: an extracellular matrix molecule that can regulate several biological functions (inflammation, proliferation, angiogenesis, migration) in small vessel diseases of the central nervous system leading to irreversible cognitive disorders.
Virginie played chess on an adult team and participated in the “French youth championships”, with her chess level decreasing over time 😊 related to age 😊?
