CNRS Research Director at LaBRI (Laboratoire Bordelais de Recherche en Informatique), Pierrick Coupé is an internationally renowned expert in artificial intelligence for neuroimaging. His major contributions focus on developing innovative methods for the quantitative analysis of brain MRIs (over 100 articles in international journals). He has developed a significant number of methods for the detailed analysis of brain anatomy. He has also contributed to the creation of new biomarkers for the early detection of neurodegenerative diseases. Finally, he has proposed new lifespan models of brain anatomy through the analysis of big databases.
Beyond his academic research, he devotes significant efforts to the dissemination and promotion of his tools. He is the co-founder of the platform www.volbrain.net, the first free online service dedicated to neuroimaging. Since its creation in 2015, more than half a million MRIs have been analyzed for over 10,000 users worldwide. Thanks to this platform, his tools are quickly made available to the entire scientific community.
Within the VBHI institute, he will bring his expertise in artificial intelligence and contribute to the development of new tools for the detection and prediction of cerebrovascular diseases. He is a member of the Institute’s Board of Directors.
