Charlotte Bernard is a Research Fellow at the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), within the Global Health in the Global South (GHiGS) team. She is particularly interested in aging and neurocognitive disorders in sub-Saharan Africa.
As part of the IeDEA West Africa collaboration (International epidemiology Databases to Evaluate AIDS), she coordinates projects on mental health, notably on the impact of cardiovascular disease on the onset of neurocognitive disorders in elderly people living with HIV in West Africa (prospective cohort in Senegal and Nigeria). She is also coordinating a sub-study including Magnetic Resonance Imaging evaluation to assess the association between cerebral alterations, cardiovascular comorbidities and cognitive disorders according to HIV status in Senegal.
She participates in the « VBHI – Global Vascular Brain Health Coalition ».
