Professor Jean-François Korobelnik completed his medical training at University Paris VII in 1985, completed his fellowship at Hotel-Dieu of Paris, and has held the Professorship of Ophthalmology in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University Hospital, Bordeaux since 1999. He was head of the Ophthalmology Department from 2013 to 2024. Professor Korobelnik is involved in clinical research, which mainly focuses on eye disease epidemiology (E3 Consortium), macular diseases (age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, …), and retinal detachment. He is author or co-author of more than 370 papers. Professor Korobelnik is a member of several societies, including the SFO (President 2013 – 2015), the CFSR (President 2017- 2019), the AAO, the ARVO, the ASRS, Euretina, and the Club Jules Gonin (Executive Committee Member 2018-2022), and regularly participates in expert advisory board meetings for pharmaceutical organizations. He is an associate editor of Journal Francais d’Ophtalmologie and of Ophthalmologica. He is a member of the Institute’s Board of Directors.
