Nicolas Borderies earned a PhD in neuroscience from the IHU – Brain and Spinal Cord Institute (ICM) in Paris, defending his thesis in 2020 on the role of neuromodulators and prefrontal brain regions in apathy. He also completed medical training with a specialization in neurology, including a residency in Bordeaux at the Neurovascular Unit (UNV) and the Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases (IMN) at the Bordeaux University Hospital. During his training, he conducted a thesis on brain imaging biomarkers of post-stroke depression under the supervision of Professor Igor Sibon and Dr Michel Thiébaut de Schotten. His current work involves recruiting, evaluating, and monitoring patients in the BrainVasc cohort as well as those seen at the Cerebral Small Vessel Disease Prevention Clinic; and to link with the clinical activity of the Neurovascular Unit of the University Hospital.
Nicolas enjoys board games in all their formats; he is always enthusiastic about playing a game.
