The VBHI was inaugurated in 2023 as part of the France 2030 programme to create world-class university hospital institutes (IHU).

It was selected by an international jury for its potential to drive high-impact results in the areas of prevention and care, industry and technology transfer, and on the design of new public policies aimed at reducing health inequalities.

This prestigious award recognises the expertise of the Bordeaux University Hospital Cluster and its ability to meet the challenge of preventing vascular brain diseases.

“a transformative force for healthcare, prevention, education and research in the field of neurology and the prevention of dementia and disability”.
