[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” el_class=”intro”]On Wednesday 25 November 2026, the VBHI and the Department of Health Sciences and Technologies at the University of Bordeaux will host a one-day event in Bordeaux dedicated to technological advances that are helping us better understand stroke and cerebral small vessel disease.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”none”]\n

New Tools, Discussions and Workshop<\/h2>\n

Stroke and cerebral small vessel disease<\/a> are among the leading causes of disability and dementia. New tools are transforming our understanding of these conditions, including AI-assisted imaging, lesion\u2013deficit mapping, brain reference charts and digital twins.<\/p>\n

This event will bring together international experts and Bordeaux-based research teams<\/strong> to explore how these advances can help predict recovery, detect risk at an earlier stage and guide patient care.<\/p>\n

Speakers<\/strong> from University College London, the University of South Carolina and the University of Lisbon will join researchers from the University of Bordeaux, the CNRS, Inserm and Bordeaux University Hospital.<\/p>\n

Presentations<\/strong> will cover lesion mapping, brain age and lifespan models, receptor and metabolic signatures of vascular damage, and the role of lifestyle in dementia prevention.<\/p>\n

The day will conclude with a hands-on workshop<\/strong> on browser-based neuroimaging analysis using Neurodesk Play (please bring a laptop), followed by a panel discussion.<\/p>\n

This event is open to researchers, clinicians and students<\/strong> interested in brain imaging, stroke and cerebrovascular health.<\/p>\n

The event is organised by Dr Michel Thiebaut de Schotten<\/strong><\/a>, Deputy Director of VBHI, and Professor Thomas Tourdias<\/a><\/strong>, a member of the VBHI Executive Committee, with support from the IdEx funding scheme for events run by the Department of Health Sciences and Technologies.<\/strong><\/p>\n
